Port Hedland Power Station

Port Hedland is a 210MW gas-fired power station located in the Pilbara region of WA, Australia’s largest resource producing region. Port Hedland consists of five 42MW gas-fired turbine units located in two separate locations: two units are located at the BHP Billiton hot briquetted iron (HBI) plant at Boodarie which has been decommissioned. Three units are located in a standalone facility at Port Hedland.  Alinta Energy also owns and operates a number of High Voltage transmission lines which electrically connect the facilities at Boodarie and Port Hedland and transmit power to Alinta Energy’s customers and the North West Interconnected System (NWIS).
