We're happy to be the gold sponsor of YEP Perth this year, a special interest subgroup of the Australian Institute of Energy (AIE).
Membership of YEP Perth is designed for AIE members aged 35 and under. It offers several events each year to its members, providing opportunities for networking and education.
As gold sponsor, we’ll be closely involved with the YEP Perth calendar over the next financial year, helping to cover a broad range of energy industry topics for attendees to look forward to.
Our Executive Director of Retail Markets, Chris Campbell, called it a great partnership for young people who may be joining or seeking development within the energy industry.
"We’re sponsoring YEP Perth because it’s a fantastic forum for discussion, networking, and professional development for young people across the entire energy supply chain,” he says.
“We’ve got a great team at Alinta Energy on the Committee who’ll be working with YEP Perth to deliver their calendar of events.”
YEP Perth’s new Chair for 2024–25 is Emma Snell, Assistant Company Secretary at Alinta Energy and former Secretary of YEP Perth. She says attendees can look forward to an informative set of events this year in keeping with the organisation’s key values of knowledge sharing, participation and connection.
"I think it's a really exciting time for young professionals to be joining and growing within the energy industry,” says Emma.
“The energy transition needs a diverse set of skills and perspectives, so the YEP Committee and the topics for our events aim to reflect this to encourage participation from young professionals across all disciplines."
Also joining Emma is Compliance Analyst Phoebe Mather, who takes on the role of YEP Perth Secretary this year.
We’re always proud of our employees' contributions to the wider energy sector through collaborations and events, particularly when it comes to investing in the industry’s future.
Oscar Carlberg, a Wholesale Regulation Manager at Alinta Energy, has been heavily involved with our work with YEP Perth for the last few years, including stints as Vice Chair and Treasurer, and is continuing as a general committee member this year.
It certainly set him up for leadership as he was recently awarded a Commercial Leadership Excellence Award from us in relation to his work with the WA safeguard mechanism reforms.
“The committee is in good hands this year with Emma as Chair and Phoebe as Secretary,” he says.
“It’s great to see Alinta Energy continuing its investment as gold sponsor of YEP Perth this year. Through our support of these organisations and the achievements of individuals like Emma and Phoebe, we can do our bit to ensure the energy sector is led by talented and passionate professionals into the future.
