Terms & Conditions for the Alinta Energy App Customer Competition

If you want to enter this Competition, these are the terms and conditions that will apply to you (Terms):

1. By submitting an entry into the Competition, you are deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.

2. This Competition is promoted and run by Alinta Energy Retail Sales Pty Ltd (ABN 22 149 658 300), Level 13, 225 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000 (the Promoter, otherwise referred to as us or we in these Terms).

What’s the Prize?

3. If you’re drawn as one of the winners of this Competition, you will receive a $1,000 credit on your Alinta Energy electricity or gas bill (the Prize) – Hooray!

4. We will draw 5 lucky customers to each win a $1,000 energy bill credit.

5. The Prize can’t be transferred to another person or energy account, nor exchanged for cash.

How do I enter?

6. You can enter the Competition by downloading the Alinta Energy app via https://www.alintaenergy.com.au/residential/billing-and-pricing/alinta-energy-mobile-app, signing up to MyAccount via the app and logging into your account by Friday 16 May 2025.

7. The Competition commences on Tuesday 1 April 2025 at 9:00am AEST and closes on Friday 16 May 2025 at 5:00pm AEST (Competition Period).

8. We must receive your entry before the Competition Period ends. Your entry is deemed to have been ‘received’ at the time our database records you have logged into the Alinta Energy app before the competition close date.

9. Entries received after the Competition Period ends will automatically be deemed as invalid.

10. You are only allowed to submit one entry per account to the Competition. If you submit more than one entry, only your first submitted entry will be counted as valid.

11. We accept no responsibility for late, lost, or misdirected entries due to technical disruptions, network congestions, internet bogeymen, mercury being in retrograde, or any other reason.

Am I eligible to enter?

12. You’re only eligible to enter (and win!) the Competition if you are an Eligible Entrant. You’ll be an Eligible Entrant if when entering you:

i. Have:

a. Downloaded the Alinta Energy app either via the Apple App Store or Google Play;

b. Activated MyAccount and/or linked to your existing MyAccount to the app; and

c. Logged into the app before the competition closes on Friday 16 May 2025.

ii. are:

a. a resident of New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria or Queensland;

b. at least 18 years old; and

c. the account holder of an active residential Alinta Energy electricity and/or gas account;

iii. aren't:

a. an employee, agent, or contractor for the Promoter;

b. a relative of any employee, agent, or contractor of the Promoter (being a spouse, parent, step-parent, sibling or child of that employee, agent, or contractor); or

c. a former Alinta Energy customer who has cancelled their account whose supply of energy has been cancelled by either the customer or Alinta Energy.

13. We reserve the right at any time to:

i. request proof that your entry is valid and that you’re an Eligible Entrant (including proof of your identity, age, place of residence, or relationship to an employee of the Promoter); and

ii. disqualify any Eligible Entrant who:

a. submits an entry form (where relevant) that doesn’t comply with these Terms; or

b. tampers with the entry process.

14. If you’ve made an error or an omission in your entry, it’s up to us in our discretion to decide whether or not to accept it as a valid entry.

How do I know if I’ve won?

15. We will draw all 5 winners by random digital selection at 10:00 am AEST on Friday 23 May 2025 at the Alinta Energy Melbourne office - Level 16, 40 City Road, Southbank VIC 3006 (the Draw).

16. You don’t need to be present at the Draw to be eligible to receive the Prize. If you’re one of the winners, we’ll try notifying you using the contact details you provided us in your entry within two days of the Draw.

17. However, we accept no responsibility for failing to notify you that you’ve won the Competition if we can’t reasonably reach you during ordinary business hours.

18. We’ll also publish the winner’s first name and suburb on the Alinta Energy website by Friday 30 May 2025 after the Draw.

19. Once we notify you that you’ve won, you will need to claim the Prize within 28 days. Any unclaimed Prizes remain the Promoter’s property.

20. If we can’t reasonably get in touch with you, then we may conduct a second draw and award the Prize to a substitute winner.

21. Our decisions regarding how to conduct the Competition, complete the Draw, and determine the winner are final and cannot be contested.

How are you using the personal information I submit in my entry?

22. By entering the Competition, you consent to:

i. us publishing your name and other information for the purposes of us promoting the Competition and our business. For example, if you win the Competition, we will publish your first name and suburb, on our website or in our newsletters without providing any remuneration to you;

ii. your personal information (including name, address, telephone number and email address) being used for future marketing purposes in accordance with our privacy policy, which is available on Alinta Energy’s website at www.alintaenergy.com.au/privacy; and

iii. being contacted from time to time, including through electronic means and/or telephone, to be kept informed about our products and offers, even after your energy plan has ended, unless you opt out by contacting us in accordance with the approach set out in our privacy policy or by clicking the unsubscribe link contained in all our marketing emails.

Other important legal information

23. We may terminate, vary, or suspend the Competition in:

i. accordance with the relevant governing laws in the state in which the Competition is being conducted;

ii. circumstances not within the Promoter’s reasonable control or foreseeability, subject to any written direction from a relevant regulatory authority (Force Majeure Event). Force Majeure Events include (but aren’t limited to) any act of war, terrorism, public health event, or natural disaster in Australia.

24. If we don’t enforce any of our rights under these Terms or at law at any stage, that doesn’t constitute a waiver of those rights.

25. Winners accept all risks, responsibilities, and restrictions associated with accepting and using the Prize. To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither the Promoter, nor any of their respective related bodies corporate or their respective officers, employees, agents or contractors accepts or otherwise has any responsibility for any loss, damage, accident, death or injury resulting from or arising out of or in any way connected with the Competition.

26. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), as well as any other implied warranties or similar consumer protection laws in Australia.

27. This is a game of chance and skill plays no part in determining the winner.
